The Community Advisory Board for the ASCENT project is established

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) for the ASCENT project was conducted in Ethiopia at Bishoftu town Gold Mark Hotel on October 7, 2020. The CAB is expected to ensure that the project runs smoothly and to guard the safety and well-being of beneficiaries/study participants and the technical robustness.

The meeting was held in the presence of CAB members, regional health bureaus representatives and KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation ASCENT project staff in Ethiopia. Brief presentations were held on an overview of the ASCENT Project, ASCENT research study protocol and CAB establishment Termence of Reference (TOR).

During the meeting the CAB chairperson and secretary were nominated. Dr.Tizita Tilahun from Oromia regional health bureau was selected as chairperson and Kitaw Teklemariam from Organic Health Care service Ethiopia (CSO) was selected as secretary.

In a follow-up meeting within a month’s time the CAB will approve the TOR and agree on the proposed activities. Once the TOR is approved the CAB members will conduct a quarterly meeting.
