Overview

Compliance Meds Technologies (CMT) has developed two adherence technologies – the CleverCap Lite and CleverCap Pro. These smart caps can affix to standard medication bottles to track medication adherence. CleverCaps transfer easily from bottle to bottle, supporting medication management for patients and providers alike. CleverCap Pro records single dose dispensing, while CleverCap Lite captures cap removal. Both utilize cellular technology to transmit monitoring data to an app and a patient monitoring portal.

How it works

CleverCap offers cellular and bluetooth versions of their device. The bluetooth version requires that the app is downloaded for first use but, after that, patients only need to attach the CleverCap to each new bottle. This functionality means that there is no need to transfer pills from bottle to bottle. The Caps can send sound and light alarms to patients, remininding them to take their doses and also sends information to providers about when the bottle was accessed. CleverCaps need to be recharged every 6-9 months.

Scoring

CleverCap has been scored below according to it’s ability to serve the TB market for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) along Fit for Purpose and Technical Specifications metrics. Note that higher scores equate to a greater ability to serve the market. For example, if a product scores well in the Provider Burden subcategory, that means that the burden for the provider is low.
